What I'm grateful for February 23...

1. TIM TAMS: They are the best medicine. Really. They cure head colds, sinus, back pain, menstrual cramps, headaches, boredom, loneliness, sleeplessness, muscle-pain, dehydration, migraines, toothaches and so on. I am grateful for the healing powers of Tim Tams. Today I felt the onset of an anxiety attack and sure enough one packet of Black Forest Delight Tim Tams and all symptoms disappeared.
2. INDIGENOUS LITERACY DAY: I’m grateful for all those involved in the Indigenous Literacy Project – booksellers, publishers, ambassadors, authors, schools etc – who are committed to ensuring that Indigenous kids have access to appropriate books and programs to address the appalling statistic related to literacy in some Indigenous communities. If you’d like to support Indigenous Literacy Day held this year on Wednesday September 1, click here to find out ways you can participate in your work place or school or as an individual. It can be as simple as buying a book. If you’d like to come to the launch as part of Adelaide Writers’ Week, then click on the invitation above. And we’ll see you there!
3. RHIANNA PATRICK : Do you know her? She’s the deadly presenter on the ABCs Speaking Out program We were in the studio today yarning about Manhattan Dreaming http://www.randomhouse.com.au/books/Default.aspx?Page=Book&ID=9781741668926 today, but as always, the ‘interview’ was simply like a yarn between girl friends. I’m grateful for Rhi’s style and talent as a broadcaster. Tune in March 7 for the ‘yarn’ and a few giggles hopefully! [Pic of the gorgeous Rhianna above - courtesy ABC website]
4. MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING: I’m grateful for the old faves like this flick with Julie Roberts. Don’t mind a bit of Dermot Mulroney either!
5. HAVING A ROOF OVER MY HEAD: I’m grateful not only for the roof over my head and a warm bed, hot water and three meals a day, but the knowledge that in the foreseeable future, I’ll will always have it. I know I am incredibly lucky compared to the 100,000 homeless people across Australia tonight wishing they simply had shelter.
