What I'm grateful for June 5...

1. Positives from negatives – I lost a dear friend in 2005. I still haven’t forgiven him for leaving us all so suddenly and tragically. But the positive out of a painfully sad negative was that through his passing I met another of his friends Leanne. And we’ve been tiddas ever since. We caught up today for a yarn and as always she reminded me of the joy that can come from sadness.
2. Bourke Street Bakery – a great place for a cuppa and something spesh to eat. Try one of one of their sausage rolls – beef/veal and olives – and take home a loaf of sour dough. Yes, I know, carb explosion!
3. Saying ‘No’ – it’s a skill I’ve spent many years trying to perfect. Do you have trouble saying ‘No’ without guilt? I used to, but now I am at the top of my field in that area. It can be quite empowering to knock back something when you are already over-committed.
4. Mum – she just never stops giving of herself. I could learn much from Mum, but then perhaps I could teach her to say ‘No’ occasionally also! But not me of course... just to everyone else 
5. Saturday night at home: I can’t imagine there is anywhere else in the world I would rather be tonight.

Hi - my friend had the lamb and almond s.roll. I wanted to just take my doona and pillow and move into the shop (Alexandria site). It was my first visit, but I will be a regular for sure from now on!

You are making me hungry Anita. It is a good thing I am reading this close to lunchtime here in Italy. And I am sure we will have a carb filled lunch!

I like the pork and fennel sausage rolls best - and the Marrickville branch is great... and don't forget that proper sourdough is low GI, so you don't need to feel so guilty!

Cathy - you make me laugh. And I can't imagine an authentic Italian meal without carbs!

Kris - I saw the pork and fennel, will try that one next time. And thanks for the heads-up re low GI - I'll eat more now :)

Bourke St Bakery used to have an outlet just down the hill from UTS. Those crème brûlée tarts aren't half bad either. It closed about the same time I finished my Masters and stopped going down there.... hoping I didn't cause the biz to become unviable!
Healthy sourdough - that's what I tell myself every time I go to St Honore Sourdough Bakery @ Nth Sydney and The Grumpy Baker @ Waverton ...

So it was YOUR fault the BSB near UTS closed down. Now we have someone to blame! :)

The Grumpy Baker - I love it. I might need it shortly as I'm detoxing and day one was a real struggle! Wholemeal everything... but they don't make wholemeal chocolate :(
